Peter Cat Recording Co.: KCRW Live from HQ
Intimate performances, fresh sounds, and candid conversations with a view.
In the midst of a debut US tour — complete with sold-out shows at nearly every stop — New Delhi symphonic indie pop band Peter Cat Recording Co. bring their rising star to KCRW’s Annenberg Performance Studio. The band has earned a cult-like following around the world, thanks to frontman Suryakant Sawhney’s velvety croon and quietly charismatic stage presence. The rest of the band — Karan Singh (drums), Dhruv Bhola (bass and samples), Rohit Gupta (keys and trumpet), and Kartik Sundareshan Pillai (keyboards, guitar, electronics and trumpet) — bring a dazzling display of musical chops and depth to make for a sweepingly romantic live show. Find yourself living blissfully in a state of main character syndrome? This one’s for you.
Click in for an enveloping set of standouts from the group’s fervently beloved 2019 LP Bismillah. “Remain in Me,” “I’m This,” and “Soulless Friends” are all in the mix. And ready your best moves for an ecstatic live take on the album’s discodelic centerpiece, “Memory Box”.
